Illumina offers a variety of options and carriers so you can choose coverage that feels just right for you and your family. Our medical plans are designed to help you take a proactive approach to health care, focusing on prevention and a healthy lifestyle. You can enroll yourself and your eligible dependents in medical coverage as a new hire, during Open Enrollment and after a qualifying life event.

The basics

Your choice

All Illumina US employees have two plans available to them:

  • Traditional PPO
  • Health Savings PPO

The Health Savings PPO comes with a tax-advantaged Health Savings Account (HSA) with a contribution from Illumina.

Employees in two states also have access to an additional plan:

  • Kaiser HMO (California)
  • Quartz HMO (Wisconsin)

 

The network

If you choose the Traditional PPO plan or Health Savings PPO, select providers from the Aetna network

If you choose the Kaiser HMO, you must use Kaiser doctors and facilities. With the Quartz HMO, you may only visit physicians in the Quartz network. There is no out-of-network coverage.

What's covered

The plans cover doctor visits, prescriptions, labs, radiology, hospital stays and surgeries, mental health care and other services. All plan options provide 100% coverage for preventive care, including annual physicals, recommended screenings, and vaccines. Progyny manages fertility treatment benefits.

Expert care for Aetna members

Your Aetna medical coverage gives you access to additional programs:

  • Aetna One Advisor gives you personalized, high-touch service to help you navigate your health care, from finding in-network providers to understanding claims and getting the support you need.
  • 2nd.MD connects you to leading doctors who can provide expert second opinions and treatment decision support for complex diagnoses, surgery recommendations, or chronic conditions.
  • MSK Direct from Memorial Sloan Kettering provides second opinions on cancer diagnoses, support, and treatment guidance.
  • 24-Hour Nurse Line connects you to registered nurses for support in making care decisions, understanding symptoms, or finding the right provider.

Virtual medical care

Skip the waiting room and scheduling hassles, and get care wherever you are. All Illumina medical plans include virtual visits for everyday concerns and mental health support.

Traditional PPO and Health Savings PPO: Use CVS Virtual Care for 24/7 care by phone, video, or mobile app.

Kaiser: Free video visits available during business hours through the Appointment Center on kp.org.

Quartz: Use the UW Health Care Anywhere app for on-demand video visits 24/7.
