During your lifetime, you may need legal assistance more than you think. If you enroll in the MetLife Legal Plan, you and your eligible dependents will have convenient access to attorneys for legal services that can save you hundreds of dollars or more.

The basics

How it works

Network attorneys are available in person, by phone, or by email for all legal matters covered under the MetLife Legal Plan. Online tools are also available 24/7.

You can choose your attorney from the plan’s network of prequalified attorneys or use an attorney outside the network and be reimbursed some of the cost.*

What’s covered

Convenient access to in-network attorneys and online tools for a wide variety of legal services for you and your legal dependents.

There are no copays, deductibles, or claim forms when you use a network attorney for a covered matter. For non-covered matters that are not otherwise excluded, the plan provides four hours of network attorney time and services per year.

What it costs

For 2026, you’ll pay $10.66 each pay period for included services. Your cost will be automatically deducted from your paycheck after taxes.

*If you use an out-of-network attorney, you will be reimbursed according to the set fee schedule, the lesser of the maximum reimbursement amount or the attorney’s actual charge. You will be responsible to pay the difference, if any, between the plan’s payment and the out-of-network attorney’s charge for services. MetLife Legal Plans is not responsible for legal work performed by out-of-network attorneys.

Plan details

You can enroll in the Legal Plan as a new hire or during Open Enrollment. Once your benefits are effective, you can set up your account. Reach out when you need support with:
