Education Assistance Program

If you are considering pursuing further education related to your role or future career growth at Illumina, start by meeting with your manager to discuss how the Education Assistance Program may be able to support you. As a regular employee, you are eligible to participate in the program upon date of hire.

The basics

How it works

The program can provide up to $5,250 for undergraduate courses or up to $7,500 for graduate courses, once per calendar year. Amounts reimbursed above $5,250 are considered taxable income to you.

Before you enroll in a course, speak with your direct manager about availability of budget and have them sign the Education Assistance Reimbursement Form.

What’s covered

Only the following expenses are eligible for reimbursement:

  • Tuition (course cost)
  • Books
  • Parking

Expenses such as transportation costs, fees (including application or payment transaction fees, among others), and personal supplies like backpacks and calculators, are not eligible for reimbursement.

Eligible courses

Courses toward an undergraduate or graduate degree are eligible for reimbursement if:

  • Taken at an accredited educational institution
  • A letter grade or pass/fail designation is provided upon completion

Courses involving sports, games or hobbies are not eligible unless they are required as part of a degree program or are job-related.
